Together We Can Change The World
December 8, 2007 |
Good morning everyone! What a beautiful morning it is. Those of you who regularly read my blog know that I love and adore this time of year. As the song says, “It’s More Than A Feeling.”
It’s the time of year when people will smile more readily at strangers. Children are happy and excited, and there is just an aura of magic in the air.
And yes, it’s true that there are people out there in the world who don’t have it as good as us. No matter what level of income you are at, there is probably someone who would think you “have it good”.
Can we make a difference? Yes, we can! Part of today’s Daily Inspiration post is going to sound like a commercial. I know that, but I feel this is worthwhile and important. I have found a way to make a difference by doing something I already do. And that’s shopping. We all have to buy things, it’s a necessity. I make a difference by doing my shopping at My Power Mall.
Don’t think you have much or anything left to give to a charity? Well, this is a way. Simply purchase the things you would ALREADY buy and 6.5% of corporate profits will go to “One Child At A Time”. It will cost you nothing to join - there are no joining fees or catches. No required purchases you have to make. Just join and browse around the 1000+ brand-name stores. Purchase something and you can earn rebates on your own purchases. The prices are not inflated either - they are often much less than you’d find in the brick-and-mortar stores. Therefore not only can you help a child in need, you can save money. What’s not to like about this?
Here is just part of an email from Ginny Dye, the founder of MPM:
The bottom line is this… I can’t fulfill my mission to build orphanages and Change The World without first creating success for ALL of you! Besides the fact that I love all of you so much, and am so thankful for all each of you have done, I am driven by the mission that launched my company 6 years ago - to create 100’s of millions of dollars for the organizations making a difference in the world. My vision has never changed, dimmed or faltered. Everything I do is driven by that one simple statement.
Fulfilling that mission means I first have to create financial freedom for as many of you as possible. True, I can only provide you the vehicle and the tools. You still have to get in and drive, or use those tools, but I first have to provide everything you need. Me, and my team, promise to provide you everything you need. Only you can promise yourself to make the most of them. I truly hope you do!
Now… I have someone new for you to meet. Your shopping the last few days has provided Deo (our most recent One-Child-At-A-Time recipient) what he needs to have food, education and clothing for the next 6 months. Now I want to introduce Robert to you!
Robert is not sure how old he is because there is no one living who knows when he was born. Because both parents have died from AIDS, Robert has spent his life being passed from one relative to another in the Bugonzi village.
Now that Robert is old enough to work in the banana fields and bring in an income, he has been allowed to live with his aunt’s family. This young man will continue to reside with her while he is waiting for the GCCI project to open.
Robert began attending school in 2006 after being selected as one of the oldest GCCI children. The Project guesses that Robert is about 15 years-old.
Determined and intelligent, Robert is trying desperately to catch up in school. He is embarrassed that he is much older and taller than the other children in his class. Robert is a very talented artist. In 2007 he was given his very first blank piece of drawing paper and sat for an hour trying to decide what to draw because he thought it was the only piece of paper he would receive.
When a visiting American GCCI sponsor presented Robert with a whole stack of paper he almost cried. Through a translator he said, “Now I can get all the things I have dreamed of drawing out of my head and think of more.”
Robert is a boy with a huge heart and dreams of being a Pastor so he can bring hope to the people of his village. He wants to be like the visiting sponsors and missionaries who have given him a new life.
Robert is a hard worker, quick thinker, and great singer. He looks forward to someday touring with the GCCI choir so he can spend more time with sponsors who have “happy white love to share with him.”
Glory Children’s City International (GCCI) is a group of more than 30 people who joined together in 2005 to make life better for a group of orphans in Masaka, Uganda. All of the officers and board members are volunteers. Administrative supplies, time, and all items needed for the GCCI project are donated by the board and other members. This is a program designed so 100% of their funding and resources to go directly to the children.
Every purchase made on MY POWER MALL helps us feed, clothe and provide schooling for Robert.
Here’s your chance to help make a difference! And you can do so simply by doing and spending what you already do. Each week or so “One Child At A Time” helps a different child. That’s why it’s called “One Child At A Time”.
Help me help make a difference. Yes, it’s true you can make money as well. You could even bring on a charity or non-profit organization you work with and help them raise funds. Today’s experiment is to make a difference. Since it will cost you NOTHING to join, but could save (and earn) you money, it’s a win-win situation in my mind. You save money and help RAISE money for a charity. It will cost you nothing to look or join. Simple but important. Please join with me.
Blessings on all your hopes and dreams.
