13 Of The Best Things I’ve Done Recently
March 12, 2008 |

Hello everyone! It’s Wednesday so that means it’s time for The Thursday Thirteen. It’s always a challenge to figure out what 13 things to do. I think I’m just going to ramble this week. I ramble on quite well, I’m really good at it. I’m actually worth reading today though if you really DO read my TT-13 post. So without further ado:
1. Well, this is a blog about Abundance and Prosperity. Some of my 13 today will be about that, some won’t. Oh well, I figure half the TT-13′ers don’t really read the posts anyway, it’s more of a scramble to make some kind of comment and onto the next TT-13. For those that do really read: “Hi there! Glad to see you!” You may not be interested, but if you’re the type that likes to get free stuff read this - or at least bookmark me and come back later on. It’ll be worth it, literally. The BEST thing I’ve done recently is to join Freebie Force. I’m getting ALL KINDS of free stuff and not just sample sizes. This includes CASH, services and products. I encourage you to take the free tour. I truly consider it to be the best thing I’ve done recently.
2. I got a GPS. Actually I inherited it. (thank you and hope all is well in heaven or the Summerland, Uncle Bobby) It’s a cute little thing and it’s name is Jared. No, I didn’t actually name my GPS though I know many people do. The unit I got has voices you can choose from and the only USA one was Jared. He’s kind of cute but I do think he gets irritated with me when I don’t go the way he wants.
3. I joined Revolution MoneyExchange. It’s an alternative to PayPal. Do you want $25 totally free and no catches? If you are in the US, email me at holly@hollys.com and I’ll get you an invite. Seriously, they’ll give you $25 just to open an account. You don’t have to use the account, there are no fees - they’ll just give it to you. And you can use it for whatever. I have mine and it’s transferred to my bank account already. This is a US only thing and it is a limited offer - it ends 3/30/08. So, if you want $25 … email me today. (told you I was worth reading today).
4. I read The Other Bolelyn Sister by Philippa Gregory. I’d gone to see the movie which I liked well enough. I had heard that those who’d read the book first hated the movie. I now can see why. The book was wonderful. They really changed a lot of the key scenes for the movie. Why do they do that? Oh, I know sometimes it’s due to filming restrictions. However, they changed things for what seems to be no reason. The relationship between the two sisters was REALLY changed. I highly recommend the book and I’m definitely going to read more by her.
5. I’ve started growing my hair a little bit. I’ve had a short bob for almost two years now. And I got mine WELL before Posh Spice, thank you. SHE stole the look from me. Anyway, I think it’s time for a bit of a change. Of course as soon as the heat and humidity hits I may change my mind. But that’s what is cool about hair and being a woman - we can change our minds and our style when we want.
6. Took the Caller ID off of my TV set. Yeah, really - who knew that calls could show up on your TV screen? We recently got Dish, and apparently unless you disable it, caller ID will flash across the screen.
7. Re-rode Space Ship Earth in Epcot in Disney World. They just refurbished it. I rode the new version two weeks ago when my brother and his partner came to visit. Kind of hard to see everything that changed in one ride. So this week I rode it again. They really did a great job with it. However, a couple of things I didn’t like… oh, why does everyone have to be politically correct these days? They changed one of the statues - or covered it up a bit more. Why is the newspaper boy facing backwards? The newsprint worker guy is changed too. I think they were trying to make him look more “intelligent”. I also miss the effect of the Roman carriage racing off on the screen. Oh well. Still all in all - a great job.
8. Changed the clocks. Well, if I didn’t I’d be late, right? WHY do they keep Daylight Savings Time in use? I think it’s idiotic. I loved it when I lived in Arizona and we didn’t change the clocks - we stayed on regular time all year. It doesn’t save energy. In fact, I think they’ve proved it uses MORE energy. Oh well, it’s the government so I guess it doesn’t have to make sense. All I know is I lost an hour and I’m cranky about it!
9. Did my income taxes. Well, not my favorite thing to do but at least they are done before the April 15th deadline. Do you think we’re really going to get those extra checks?
10. Programmed my TiVo to get Dancing With the Stars. I really loved last season - Julianne and Helio! I don’t know if I’ll love this season or not. I do like Marlee Matlin though as an actress. Kudos to her for taking a risk. I bet she does great.
11. Changed telephones. I had a cordless two-handset telephone, but for some reason it would not let me shut off the ringer in my room. In our house the phone rings ALL the time. I really disliked not being able to shut it off. So went out and got an old-fashioned regular telephone that I can shut off. Life is good!
12. Pulled out CD’s I haven’t heard in a long while. I go in streaks listening to CD’s while on my computer. I usually like it quiet but there are times when I like to put relaxing “new age” type music on when I’m computing. I know I’ve mentioned it on here before, but I really like Olivia Newton John’s newer CD, Grace and Gratitude.
13. Watched some of the Moonlight episodes that I’d downloaded to my TiVo from Amazon Unbox. We now have HDTV in our house. Oh my goodness - Alex O’Loughlin in HD! Beyond description. (and yes, of course I have to do my weekly gratuitous mention of Moonlight, Mick St. John and Alex O’Loughlin). I’m really thrilled that in a couple of weeks we’ll have a few new episodes now that the writer’s strike is over.
