13 Bits of This and That


It’s Wednesday so of course it’s time for The Thursday Thirteen. Well, you have to know that confuses new readers of my blog who don’t know about Memes.

Anyway, this week I’m doing 13 Bits of This and That. It’s because I’ve been so busy lately my mind can’t focus on doing a theme. Besides Random is fun, isn’t it? It’s like the Forest Gump philosophy, you’ll not know what you are going to get until you read it.

1. Okay, actually the Forest Gump saying was, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” So how about I GIVE you chocolates? (really!)

I belong to Freebie Force and it brings free offers to it’s members. BUT, they now have a new thing that if you download the free toolbar, even people who aren’t members can receive one Freebie a week. And this week, it’s CHOCOLATES.

2. Since I’m giving out links and opportunities to free things, how about $25 free? 4. Another modality I really like - AND you can learn free is EFT. EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. I’m going to include a short video about it:

5. I’m going to share one of my favorite affirmations with you. I use affirmations often as I feel they do change our vibration. “Blessings on all your hopes and dreams, and may you receive all you ask for and more, and may it be wonderful!”

6. This Sunday morning is the Full Moon. It’s just before dawn in the US. I’m doing a Full Moon healing meditation on Saturday evening just before midnight EDT. If you would like to join in, simply meditate at that time. I am a big believer in the exponential effects of group meditations.

7. Switching gears (I told you this would be random!). I picked the winner two seasons in a row on “Rock of Love with Brett Michaels”. Why I watched that show I have no idea. I somehow got hooked on it. Granted, I Tivo’ed it and watched when I had a chance, but I got pulled in. (sucked in more like it). Other than liking his song “Every Rose Has A Thorn” I don’t know much of his music.I picked Jess last season to win. But of course it didn’t work out for him and Jess, so there was a Season Two.

This time I picked Ambre. Wonder if they are together? Oh well, the Reunion show is on this coming Sunday.

8. Yes, I am still watching Dancing With the Stars. (and am still heartbroken Steve Guttenberg is not on it). I’m rooting for Marlee Matlin. I am amazed at how well she is doing when she cannot hear the music. I’m still not sure I’ll watch to the finale if she goes — I just am not liking anyone else.

9. Grandchildren are great! Yes, I am a grandma. (of course I always tell my son he had to have been born to me in a previous lifetime as I just can’t be that old…) I got to see them last week and we all did Disney World. Jackson is four, and Anna is 21 months. Watch out - I took video - it may someday appear on this site…

10. Earth Day is next Tuesday, April 22nd. Plant something like a tree!

11. Wow, this is getting difficult this week - I’m running out of things to put here. Let’s see if I do politics I’d probably offend half of the readers…by the way, I already offended someone today at the dog park when I said I’d rather vote for Alfred E. Neuman than “X”. [I’d better not name the candidate]. It’s true though.

12. Okay. I like fantasy, I think it’s healthy. So, the thought for the day: If you could be any fictional character - who would it be?

Let’s see, I think I’d like to be The Lady of the Lake. (Mists of Avalon). I’m re-reading that book. I think I picked the Lady of the Lake as Morgaine is portrayed so differently in books and movies. In the 2001 version with Julianna Margulies the character is more admirable than other versions make her out to be. Others sort of blend Morgaine and Morganna. I love that time period - fictional or otherwise. I’d love to meet King Arthur and Merlin.

13. And of course, I ALWAYS end with a reference to the TV Show, Moonlight with Alex O’Loughlin portraying Mick St. John. One more week and it’s back! April 25th will be the first new episode since the writers strike. Here’s the promo for it:

    Random is great fun! I really enjoyed reading your list. I know EFT and it works very good. I visited the money reiki page, because my TT is about Reiki this week.

    I’m torn between loving the Mists of Avalon and being very annoyed with the characters at times.

    Just the other day I was listening to the Poison song “Talk Dirty To Me”. I’m not a big fan of theirs, but I have grown to love that tune.

    As for what fictional character I would be, my choice is private eye Sam Spade from “The Maltese Falcon”. He’s tough, quick-witted, and honorable.

    I love watching Dancing with The stars as well…there are only two television shows I watch and that is one of them.

    Oh wait…three…I watch The Golden Girls….

    In regards to spam and viruses - most of us have just made another email account with GMail. Free and easy to do. So any company who asks for an email address will get THAT one, not my main email address. And you know what? I’ve gotten no spam so far! None of the companies have spammed. And for the FEW who have asked for a telephone number - I’ve simply put in my area code with 111-1111. (only about two have ever asked for it).

    As far as viruses, I have not heard of anyone getting anything like that. These are ALL checked out first (all the freebie offers) before telling us about them. Since we don’t download anything - it’s just like we do on TT-13 - we visit websites to put in info for a coupon, or a free product.

    I seriously HAVE gotten over $600 worth of stuff (just got about $65 worth yesterday alone) and have gotten NO viruses, and since I use an alternate email address for the offers, I have received no spam.

    Marlee Matlin is so beautiful and talented! I don’t know how much hearing she has; a lot of Deaf people can hear some things, depending on the volume and frequency. Apparently music is very popular at Deaf events, both because of that and because you can feel the beat if you turn it up loud enough. (I took some ASL and Deaf Culture classes a while back!) I haven’t watched my TiFauxed Dancing With The Stars episodes yet, but I sneakily hope that the other contestants wrote her off because she was Deaf and then got the surprise of their lives :)
